Hydraulic oil from presses, earthmoving equipment, forklifts, plant and production machinery is drained during services, repairs and fluid changes. Factories, engineering firms, plant hire companies and fleet operators often build up large volumes in one go. Oil Savers assesses and collects hydraulic and machinery oil from 100 litres across our Gauteng routes.
What usually qualifies
Used hydraulic fluid, machinery and plant oil, and general industrial maintenance oil usually qualify when they’re kept separate from water, solvents and cutting fluids. Hydraulic oil is a clean oil with its own price, so keep it separate from black (used motor) oil and from other clean oils. If it has been mixed with other oils, let us know which, and roughly how much, so we can assess it properly.
Planned maintenance shutdowns
If you’re planning a shutdown or a large fluid change, tell us the expected volume and date in advance. That way the collection can be lined up for when the drums are full, instead of having them stand on site.
Storage tips
- Label drums by oil type, especially if your site also produces gear or motor oil.
- Keep lids on so moisture can’t get in; hydraulic oil picks up water easily.
- Store drums on a level, accessible surface, ideally with spill containment.
Payment and documentation
Instant payment is available for qualifying hydraulic oil once the terms are confirmed. What qualifies depends on quality, contamination, volume and location. Collection records and safe-disposal documentation can be supplied where applicable, which helps with internal audits and environmental reporting.
Where we collect
We collect from factories, engineering firms and plant operators across Gauteng, including Isando, Wadeville, Alrode, Jet Park, Kya Sands, Rosslyn, Waltloo, Chamdor, Stormill, Selby and Vanderbijlpark. See all service areas.
Common questions
Can you collect after a maintenance shutdown? Yes. Tell us the expected volume and date in advance so the collection can be planned for when the drums are full.
Does hydraulic oil qualify for payment? Qualifying hydraulic oil can be paid for once the oil and collection terms are confirmed. Water and solvent contamination affect qualification.
Can you supply documentation? Collection records and safe-disposal documentation can be supplied where applicable.
What Oil Savers needs to assess your collection
Send your area, oil type, estimated litres and oil condition. Oil Savers confirms collection availability, qualification and any payment or documentation terms before dispatch. The standard commercial collection minimum is 100 litres (50 litres for used cooking oil), and instant payment is available for qualifying oil once the agreed terms are confirmed.
