Oil Savers (Pty) Ltd (“Oil Savers”, “we”) collects and recycles used oil in Gauteng. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we look after it. It follows South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Who is responsible
Oil Savers (Pty) Ltd is responsible for your information. Our Information Officer is Venita Scholtz. You can reach them at collections@oilsavers.co.za or 010 101 1739.
What we collect
- Contact details: your name, business name, phone or WhatsApp number and email address.
- Collection details: the address where we collect (and its map location), the oil type, estimated and collected litres, dates, and the certificates and receipts we issue.
- Payment details: when we pay you for your oil, we keep your bank account or CashSend details and the amounts paid.
- Messages: WhatsApp messages and emails between you and us.
- Website use: what you send through our booking or contact form, and basic analytics about how the site is used (see “Cookies and website analytics” below).
- Live tracking: on the day of a collection we may send you a link that shows our truck on the way to you.
Why we use it
- To book, plan and carry out your collection, and to tell you when we’re on the way.
- To pay you for your oil and keep accurate financial records.
- To issue safe-disposal certificates and proof of collection, which you and we may need for compliance.
- To send you reminders when your next collection may be due and to follow up on our service. You can ask us to stop these at any time.
- To run our loyalty programme, where it applies to you.
- To keep our website secure and improve it.
We only use your information for these purposes, or where the law requires or allows it.
WhatsApp and email messages
We use WhatsApp Business (provided by Meta) and email to confirm bookings, send arrival times and tracking links, send documents and reminders, and answer your questions. If you contact us on WhatsApp or ask us to collect, we may message you about that collection. To stop non-essential messages, reply STOP or tell us, and we’ll update your preferences.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your information. We only share it where needed to provide our service:
- Service providers who host our systems or deliver messages for us, for example Meta (WhatsApp), Google (maps, website analytics and spam protection) and our email and hosting providers.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store information outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard similar to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Financial and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires, generally five years.
How we protect it
Your information is stored in secure systems with restricted access.

Our website uses Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how visitors find and use the site. It also uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop spam on our forms. These services may set cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Your rights
You may ask us:
- what personal information we hold about you
- to correct or delete it
